In A Nutshell
I'm Dave and I've worked with Red Evolution as a frontend web developer since 2010.
My main role is working closely with our clients to develop websites which suit all of their requirements. I really enjoy taking a static web design and watching it change everyday as I code it up into a fully interactive website.
I also do a lot of maintenance work with our existing websites, ensuring that they are kept up-to-date and ticking along nicely.
When required, I do enjoy expanding my skills into some of the other areas of the business.
Background
I have always enjoyed tinkering with computers and I had a couple of short term contract IT jobs. I soon realised that really wasn't what I wanted to get into as it just felt a bit repetitive at times and didn't offer much of a chance for creativity.
I spent a lot of time looking for a job once I had graduated and was at the point of looking to move further afield to secure a job. However, I was lucky enough to come across a vacancy at Red Evolution, who I soon discovered were based 5 miles away from me, and they haven't been able to get rid of me since.
Qualifications
I graduated in 2009 from The Robert Gordon University with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) in Computing for Internet and Multimedia. I have also completed various HubSpot training modules including their intensive CMS developer course.
When I'm Not At Work
When I'm away from the office I like to chill out with my partner, our two sons and our Cockapoo called Lockie. This usually involves going on a mini adventure exploring somewhere in the great outdoors.
I also enjoy participating in a bit of light 'stress relief' by target shooting at my local rifle club where I actively participate in national competitions and help to mentor the junior members of the club. During the winter months, a lot of my free time is spent as a member of a local amateur dramatics club looking after the music and sound effects, although I have be known to take a turn on stage too.
Me and my partner also really enjoy live music and try to get to as many gigs as possible. I also like to relax catching up on some boxsets or listening to music and enjoy getting to the cinema to watch a good film (although that unfortunately doesn't happen much these days).
